Art & Souls -- Ministry 'bringing art to worship'

Mission:

Art & Souls Studio & Ministry has a heart to celebrate all the gifts of the Holy Spirit in worship.   Historically, the church has embraced and even commissioned stained glass art, paintings, and tapestries as a way to communicate the stories of the Bible in a pictorial form to reach the audience of the day.  Today, the modern church is embracing the musical and choral arts even more as a way to celebrate our relationship with Jesus Christ, our God, in worship.  Art & Souls has a heart to reach out to the unsaved and to the seasoned Christian wanting to understand God’s word through a deeper experience with scripture.

Our vision is to... "reach people where they're at by actively illuminating the gospel through a tactile, visual celebration in worship."

Testimonials:

"The use of artistry in worship is an idea whose time has come. I fear that the church has too long forsaken beauty and creativity, and the Art and Souls ministry so effectively challenges us to recapture what God began in the garden. Kelly is a gifted artist, to be sure, but her greater gifts draw upon spiritual insight and ability to communicate.  What a pleasure to see the demonstration of God's good gifts through the work of her hands and the words from her heart."
Karen True, Women's Minister, Second Baptist Church, Springfield, MO

"We have utilized the unique talents and gifts of Kelly and the Art and Souls ministry at several venues.  Her speaking style is authentic and informative and she relates beautifully to a wide variety of audiences.  The artistic aspects of her presentations are just as beautiful, and it is evident that her work grows from a sincere desire to worship the Lord and serve Him and His people.  We have been blessed by her presence among us."
Dr. Joe Crider, Worship Pastor, Second Baptist Church, Springfield, MO

"God has given Kelly an incredible gift in both pottery and the ability to articulate her faith in Jesus.  The combination of her art and personal testimony provides for a worshipful learning experience that is deeply meaningful and uplifting.  Kelly shared a performance at two worship services for our church and both were very well received by all."
Pastor Jeffrey Sippy, LCMS Redeemer Lutheran Church, Springfield, MO

“Kelly’s worship experience spoke to my heart as I watched her throw the pot and correlate it to the malleable clay and God to the potter.  What a powerful picture!  As Kelly forcibly worked the clay, I was reminded of God’s molding of me and how painful that feels.  Yet God, the Great Creator, knows how He wants us to function and look.  He expects beautiful results from our service to him.  This is an unusual (unique) and meaningful worship experience!”
Trish Hedrick, Messiah Lutheran Church, Springfield, MO

“Pottery as a part of worship gives a visual dimension to a (church worship) service that traditionally relies heavily on the spoken word and allows for worship to feed God’s people using multiple senses.  The performance took me beyond my normal experience in worship and fed me on a deeper level, speaking directly to my heart and my creative side.  It added a whole new dimension to worship.”
Sarah Twito, Lampost Theater Company, Waterloo, IA

“We are clay in the potter's hands" came to life as God's word was shared by
our pastor and demonstrated by Kelly. The visual image of seeing a lump of
clay become a work of art in the master's hands was something my wife and I
talked about for months as we look for how God is shaping us into who he wants us to be. Thank you, Kelly for ministering through your art! God bless you!”
David Mueller, Executive Director, Wider Omaha Lutheran School Association, Omaha, NE

“Watching Kelly mold the clay as the Pastor spoke of the Lord's love for us really helped you understand the scriptural illustrations of God, the potter, in the book of Isaiah working in our lives to mold us and make us.  I had never seen (wheel-thrown) pottery like that before - I was struck at how malleable clay is in the hand of the artist.  It was a great reminder that we are on earth to do His work and He’s in charge if only we let Him be!”
Kathy Rosene, Greater Omaha Convention & Visitors Bureau, Omaha, NE

“Kelly’s enthusiasm for what she does is a great help to prepare for the service.  She set me at ease explaining how art can be incorporated into worship and how to couple it with illustrations in scripture.  Her interaction during the service made the performance very accessible to me and the congregation.”
Nathan Reichle, student at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, St. Louis, MO

“When I helped bring in the potter's wheel I couldn't help but notice how heavy it was, which was very consistent with how I was feeling that day. I was weighed down with so many things to do and so many emotional burdens. Those burdens seemed to lift when you started spinning that wheel and molding that clay. The testimony of your first art project and the image of a pile of chair pieces being pulled together made so much sense to me. I felt comforted that I was in the hands of the Potter. The stresses of the day started to ease. The talent you have been blessed with was so soothing and inspiring. After your presentation, many students came up to me so charged up by your talk and so encouraged.  Thank you!”
Aaron Mayer, Missouri State University Lutheran Student Center Prayer and Praise Night leader
